Dr Noémi Bordás

“Even today, certain medical conditions remain taboo, particularly aesthetic concerns affecting the genital area.” Many people feel that the appearance of the genitals can shape a first impression in a way similar to the face or hands. Alongside functional concerns, aesthetic aspects may therefore carry considerable importance, as may psychosocial and sexual factors that are closely connected with quality of life. With this in mind, our primary aim is to provide discreet, precise, high-quality and effective individual reconstructive planning and medical care, with the intention of improving or preserving quality of life.
Dr Noémi Bordás graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Szeged and began her clinical work in the Department of Urology at Semmelweis Hospital in Kiskunhalas. She currently sees patients at several locations in Hungary and is an active member of the surgical team at an internationally recognised centre in Belgrade specialising in gender-affirming surgery and genital reconstructive surgery. She works in Hungary as a specialist in urology and is extending her experience through a second specialty in plastic and burn surgery. Her principal areas of interest are transgender healthcare, urology, aesthetic surgery and uro-genital reconstructive surgery.
During professional study visits, she has repeatedly attended renowned international centres and specialists to broaden her knowledge of reconstructive surgery, including in Serbia, Italy, Portugal, England and Brazil. She regularly participates in continuing education relevant to her fields of interest and actively supports the development of transgender healthcare and genital reconstructive surgery in Hungary. For many years, she has worked to support both transgender and cisgender patients. She maintains close professional relationships with Hungarian and international specialists so that the complex treatment plans she offers can address patients’ individual needs as effectively and successfully as possible.
I respectfully and lovingly dedicate the following chapters to my parents and my husband, who have always taught me never to judge anyone for who they are or for what they do. I also offer these pages, with the gentlest intention to help, to every family and every interested reader. By learning more about this subject, I hope that many people will be able to respond with greater patience, attention and understanding to those around them who may differ from them in any respect.
“Let us accept everyone and, whenever we have the opportunity, let us help. Let us respect and care for others, because everyone has strengths. Each personality is unique and our values may differ. Prejudice can create tension, hinder our progress and trap us in many areas of life. Stereotypes and discrimination connected with gender identity can lead to tragedy. Negative reactions from the surrounding community are often generated by a lack of reliable knowledge, and broader understanding can clearly improve this. Our responsibility is not only to treat, strengthen and support the people concerned, but also to educate families and the wider social environment.”
